Hopefully the last vaccine post

Just for fun, I signed up to be notified when there was availability for me to get a vaccine in King County.  At long last, I received my e-mail just now.  (I already drove up to Arlington, 2.5 hours round trip, to get my second vaccine Monday.)  Out of curiosity, I clicked on the provided link to see how quickly I could schedule.  I guessed that at worst, it would allow me to schedule a week or so out.

Nope.

May. 25.

Just wow.  My mind is boggled.  Seattle Times has actually reported that King County has had many vacancies at recent mass vaccination efforts.  Guess those aren’t for people like me.  Affluent, white, non-essential people.

Hopefully this will be my last vaccine post ever, but I fear we’ll be talking about boosters in a few months.  We’ll see, I guess.

That’s crazy. The entire DMV area has opened walk up clinics for all adults to get vaccines and no lines are reported. They are also starting to take mobile vaccine efforts into business, churches, community centers, and neighborhoods in undeserved areas. You should move to DC 🙂

I think this is a specific failure of government bureaucracy and administration. My understanding is that there is vaccine availability in Seattle. Somehow that just isn’t translating into the government informing me that I could get an appointment.

What’s worse and more frustrating is that they are likely increasing restrictions on restaurants, gyms, etc. – reducing allowed occupancy to 25%, along with a whole host of other restrictions – because hospitalizations for Covid exceed 5% of staffed capacity. (They are at 6%.) Honestly, it makes me want to break things. So many businesses are holding on by a thread.
