Washington

I am jealous of people living in the 34 states allowing adults to be vaccinated in April.  That is all.

Here in Washington, we are waiting until at least May.

I could lie and get a shot. I pride myself on being an honest person, but I’m honestly considering it. Not immediately, but maybe in mid-April.

Yes, Daniel, the EU is sadly a disaster right now. My older relatives in the 60s and 70s in Ireland have been unable to get vaccinated – even a first shot – so far.

Becca – yes, I considered flying to TX. However, I’m still breastfeeding, so traveling is a significant hassle right now. If I travel without the baby, I’d have to pump, and it would be very hard on Jonathan. And I do think traveling with her is high risk since she can’t wear a mask and puts everything into her mouth.

4.5 hour drive to Idaho. That’s an option, I suppose. My parents are going to be here in a few days, so it’s not a great time for me to pick up and drive to Idaho for the day, but after they leave, maybe. Even though WA is opening eligibility on 5/1, it may still be very difficult to get a vaccine here. For example, they opened eligibility for 65 year olds in January, but only opened the mass vaccine sites in my part of the state to 65 year olds on 3/1, as far as I know. (Wouldn’t swear to it – it’s hard to figure out exactly what’s happening.)

I just trade a one-day trip to TX vs. just saying I’m pregnant vs. just waiting a couple months. So far waiting a couple months is winning.

it only takes 1 cigarette to be a “smoker”, I am pretty sure that won’t cause lung cancer..

Smokers are not eligible, actually. Just checked.

You can be 64, obese with asthma, cerebrovascular disease, cystic fibrosis, pulmonary fibrosis, hypertension, Type 1 diabetes, liver disease, dementia, thalassimia AND HIV, and you’re not eligible.

But if you’re a 25 year old teacher teaching remotely, congrats, you’re eligible!

Or if you’re disabled but otherwise perfectly healthy, then you’re eligible.

I haven’t looked this up so apologies if this is well covered already — but why is WA lagging? Do they not have as many doses? Don’t have the logistical capacity to give them out in larger quantities?

Apparently, per Seattle Times, 90% of adults will be eligible by 4/19. But not Jonathan and I. It’s so frustrating. We’re waiting on health news on Jonathan’s mom that may mean he has to hop on a plane and fly to Manhattan (think, plane, taxis, subway, hospital, etc. – lots of high risk interaction) which makes it doubly frustrating. I assume your sister is in the same boat?

Sorry, 90% nationwide. Washington is really going primarily by profession rather than age. They just, as of today, made 60 year olds eligible.
