sick kids

This has been one of those weeks.  I am exhausted and a little depressed.  L has been running a fever of 101+ now since Saturday.  This has meant lots and lots of general crankiness.  All. Day. Long.  I have asked myself a few times if I’m really cut out for this stay-at-home mom thing, but then I remember: (a) If L was in daycare, they’d make her stay home for fever, so if I was working, either H or I would have to stay home and use up my precious and extremely limited paid-time-off (no dedicated sick time).  There would be lots of stress and grumpiness as H really hates to miss work.  (b) If we still had our nanny, we’d still be in the same situation, because her entire family (possibly not coincidentally) is sick right now.  So really, this week is not about lifestyle choice.  It’s just about kids being sick being hard.  And, I am obviously really thankful that by some miracle I’ve only had a minor cold.  If I was sick like L, then we’d truly be miserable.

Proof of our Christmas tree expedition:

We have decorated our tree, and I love it.  I just really love our lights and ornaments.  It honestly makes me happy looking at it for the entire month of December.  Pictures to come.
